Barcelona

The second leg of our Europe trip was hard to get through due to the passing of our dog Coco, but meeting our cousin in Barcelona and having him keep us busy during the time we were there really helped get our mind off of it.

Barcelona is known as Gaudi’s Barcelona and to say that his influence isn’t felt every corner of the brilliantly designed city would be an understatement. The streets are all designed as rhombus formed corners and all look the same, making it easy to get lost. The getting lost part is the best, you get to explore all the different types of architecture.

The thing about Barcelona’s culture is that they respect the past history and embrace the new. They don’t demolish old buildings to make room for new ones, they either build on the old or next to it. Seeing a gothic church next to a new apartment complex is mind boggling yet extremely harmonious.

I can’t wait to go back and visit Madrid and Valencia.
